If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that my love for coats runs deeeeeeep.. if you have been to my house, you know this too because I can’t hang your coat in my closet….it’s full of my coats.
So then, it’s no surprise that I have made another. You can head over to Fabricville’s blog to get the details.
What a great coat. I didn’t even realise it had sleeves! Love.
That is so pretty!
Lol Thanks Manju! The knit sleeves make it feel more like a cardigan and I guess it kinda looks like a vest too.
I’m confused, which pattern did you use. I have got to have one of these! Hope you don’t mind!
I’m sorry that I wasn’t clear. I used Burdastyle.com (Belted Wrap Coat 10/1012 #103). I rounded out the collar and changed the sleeves so that’s why I suggested V9231…fewer changes to be made. Of course I don’t mind if you make on exactly like it!!!
I love it! How did you do the binding? I’ve got a similar large plaid to use (but a sweater knit) and I haven’t quite figured out how to trim it.
The sleeves were such a great choice!
Thanks Gillian! I made the double fold bias tape like you normally would,( except that I used a knit and cut the strips with the stretch, not on the true bias) I machine stitched it on one side, folded it over and took lots of time to hand stitch it using an invisible stitch. Hope that helps!
Wow! Your daughter is a lucky lady! Love this jacket. Your personal changes and superb sewing skills resulted in a very stylish jacket. I predict you’ll make a second for yourself in the near future. 🙂
Thanks Almeda!! I hope to make another!
that is so nice! love the grey plaid choice. And me to – about the coats! I love love love to make coats. And have way too many – particularly for my mild California climate. But they are so fun to plan and sew.
Gorgeous as always Margo!
Thanks Heather!!!
